We beat Plymouth last year I think, the first victory in the clubs short history! Apparently we should have beaten Gloucs as well but didnt happen. The club didnt fare too well against UWIC although I don't think they were actually that good.

Bear's very unknowledgable (and somewhat girly) analysis of the games we played last year (that I can remember):
Bath was our first game. I think our main problem was batting. We didn't really have the shots to go out there and get the runs. Most of the team were new, and nervous. They had a few really good players, who could shabbash. Their keeper was a funny one, well gobby behind the stumps. But she was yelling stuff saying that I was going to be bowled this ball, unlikely when it had been a 16 ball over of wides! It put some of the girls off a bit, but we do need to be able to put up with a bit of girly sledging.
The problem with UWIC was that they were mean and scary; and manly. We couldn't cope with with their bowling because they were fast and good. One of them was the spitting image of magnum.
Plymouth were nice and lovely girls, and really friendly. Ooooh and they were sooo smart too they arrived wearing black shirts and skirts and a uni tie. We won that one without too many problems. And they were lovely and came for a drink with us afterwards.
Gloucester we should have won. We got out when we shouldn't have, and fielding was a bit lose. Gaz's disappointed face ain't a good one.
Our main problems were not being such attacking batsgirlies, and bowling extras.
We should do better this year, but even if we don't we'll have a cracking time doing it.

We have no-one to fear this year. UWIC will probably be our hardest game, and I think we should have a good chance of beating them, and hopefully give them some sledging back. Last year, we beat plymouth comfortably, and Gloucester bowled us out with daizy cutters, although we were an improved unit last year, as this year. I would hope we would be pushing for promotion!

We'll sort UWIC with our Yip Yip bowling [insert aussie accent as desired]

Sounds like it could be a good year for Aber - your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to bat far and wide, to bowl clear and straight (at the wickets), to catch all balls that come towards you (unless you're batting in which case hit them and failing that to have a jolly good time trying Anyone else up for trying to beat these other girly teams?

Why oh why did I misread that last post. I thought it said bowl far and wide (not really a good idea), and bat clear and straight Must be something to do with the exam I messed up in today

Hello All,
I have just been informed by BUSA that the fixtures are out for our league and our games are as follows:
Sunday 30th April - UWIC (home) Wednesday 3rd May - Cardiff (away) Sunday 7th May (day after May Ball) - Bristol (away) Sunday 14th May - Plymouth (home) Wednesday 17th May - Gloucester (away)
At least we get UWIC out of the way first!!
Cheers,
Hannah
